The Dutch Railways (Nederlandse Spoorwegen, NS) is the first public transportation organization in Europe to implement bodycams for train station employees nation-wide. Bodycams are already popular within law enforcement, but recently there is increased demand from the public sector and other industries.

In the last couple of years, the Dutch Railways was seeing an increasing amount of violence incidents towards their employees. In 2017 they registered 642 incidents and a total of 183 employees suffered injuries. As safety is an important part of the NS value proposition, this was an unacceptable situation. In order to meet that promise, they had to take action.

“I believe that the bodycam can help employees positively influence an escalating situation and possibly even prevent an incident.”
