A world of gadgets

In our modern world people like gadgets. Handy phones with hundreds of apps. Smart watches with many functionalities. All kinds of electronic devices with which you can do hundreds of things.

No fancy tools under stress

But how about the military and the police. Apparently they do not need fancy stuff. Let’s have a look at some tools they use. A weapon has basically 2 “buttons”. A “safety” and a trigger. Sometimes a trigger only. A military or police radio has one button, being the push to talk button. Okay, there is another button to set the frequency, but that does not have to be operated under stress. A military watch does not have any button at all, only 2 hands, to indicate the time. In fact, looking at those tools, what you will see is that these are easy and intuitive to use. Allowing the operator to focus on the task at hand and to not be distracted by having to perform other actions.

The well-known adage for this is “KISS” or Keep It Simple and Stupid. It is a design principle noted by the U.S. Navy in 1960. The KISS principle states that most systems work best if they are kept simple rather than made complicated. Therefore, simplicity should be a key goal in design, and unnecessary complexity should be avoided.

Our customers stay alive because of this KISS principle. So at ZEPCAM we adhere to it too.

We do not manufacture body camera’s with a graphic user graphic. And do not expect any input and output, besides the input/output for automatic charging and data offload of course. We do not support 2-way audio. Or a man down or panic button.

Our T2+ camera has one big push button that can be operated while wearing gloves. Just push to operate.. And one small button for tagging specific moments. That’s it. No mistakes possible during stressful operations.

How about operation and management? Just take your camera out of the bay of the smart docking station and it will be assigned to you. Upon completion of your shift you place it back into any bay. Your images will be offloaded automatically and stored on the server or Cloud. The video data then can be managed from any location that has access to the storage. As simple as it gets. KISS.
